Voici le retour du Statsraad Lehmkuhl, un 3 mas norvegien, après la traversée de l'océan atlantique. Son voyage a duré 3 mois et fut longue et éprouvante. Son entrée traditionnelle s'est fait remarquée.

Here is the return of the Statsraad Lehmkuhl, a 3 Norwegian farmhouse, after crossing the Atlantic Ocean. His journey lasted 3 months and was long and trying. His traditional entrance was noticed.

Alors qu'il arrive au port, ce bateau qui permet aux touristes de voir les baleines dans la baie de San Diego connait quelques soucis avec sa vitesse. Après investigation, il semblerait que la manette de control de vitesse soit bloquée en marche avant. Fort heureusement, il n'y a eu que quelques blessés legers.

As it arrives at the harbor, this boat that allows tourists to see whales in the San Diego Bay has some problems with its speed. After investigation, it seems that the speed control knob is locked in forward. Fortunately, there were only a few minor injuries.

Le premier brevet décrivant la notion d'embarcation utilisant des foils est déposé en 1869 par le français Emmanuel Farcot, ingénieur mécanicien, auteur de nombreux brevets. Ce n'est qu'après presque un siècle et demi que la première vedette utilisant des foils voit le jour!!!!

Pour le dernier jour de la semaine, pour les plus courageux qui travaillent et ceux qui font le pont, voici une petite vidéo ayant un petit goût de vacances, montrant qu'il n'y a pas que les dauphins qui adorent jouer avec les bateaux, les orques le font également. C'est incroyable de voir un des plus gros des mamifères marin s'amuser avec tant de facilité dans le sillage d'un bateau.

It's amazing to see one of the biggest marine mammals play with such ease in the wake of a boat.

Un orque sauvage, nommée Luna, semblait perdu quand elle est apparue près d'un petit bateau à moteur de gens. Sur cette vidéo, cette grande baleine tueuse  fait un bruit très similaire au moteur du bateau, peut-être essaye-t-elle de communiquer avec les gens ?
A wild Orca, named Luna, seemed lost when she appeared near a small motorboat of people. The great killer whale kept making a very similar noise to the motor of the boat, perhaps trying to communicate with the people.

Le capitaine Haddock dans les aventures de Tintin, est connu pour son parler franc et son vocabulaire d'insultes exotiques. Il y a notamment "marin d'eau douce", comme si naviguer sur les rivières était très facile. Ce qui est vrai pour les barques, ne l'est pas forcément pour les barges de plusieurs tonnes et déplacer un mastodont dans de petite rivière devient une vraie gageure.

The Captain Haddock in the Tintin adventures, is known for his frank speaking and vocabulary of exotic insults. There are particular "landlubber", as if sailing on the rivers was very easy. What is true for boats is not necessarily for the multi-ton barges and move a mastodont in small river becomes a real challenge.

Le Canada est réputé pour avoir les sites les plus fréquentés par les baleines. Les touristes viennent d'ailleurs nombreux pour pouvoir observer ces géants des mers. Mais il est rare de voir de jeune baleine sauter hors de l'eau aussi près des bateaux ...
Canada is reputed to have the sites most frequented by whales. Tourists come from everywhere  to observe these giants of the sea. But it is rare to see young whale jumping out of the water so close to the boats ...

Les vrais pilotes d'hélicoptère sont capables de se poser n'importe ou quel que soit la météo. Si c'est vrai en théorie, c'est encore plus impressionnant dans la pratique comme le montre cette vidéo.

The real helicopter pilots are able to land anywhere regardless of the weather. If this is true in theory, it is even more impressive in practice as shown in this video.

Le canal de Panama est un canal maritime, qui traverse l'isthme de Panama en Amérique du Sud. Sa construction a été l'un des projets d'ingénierie les plus difficiles jamais entrepris. Après l'échec de la première tentative française qui débuta en 1880, ce sont les USAs qui termina le travail commencé et le canal ouvrit le 15 aout 1914.

The Panama Canal is a maritime canal, which crosses the Isthmus of Panama in South America. Its construction was one of the most difficult engineering projects ever undertaken. After the failure of the first French attempt which began in 1880, it was the USAs who completed the work begun and the canal opened on 15 August 1914.
